We've all seen supply-chain troubles at the local grocery stores; hearing that King Soopers needs nearly 2,000 more staffers, does not bode well.

My local Safeway in Downtown Loveland hasn't had any items in the 'frozen entrées' section for two weeks. Hearing that King Soopers/City Market wants to hire all these people, makes me worry that things in the store may get even worse.

On October 13, 2021, the company is going to hold a three-hour job fair. Seems short to me, when there are 2,000 jobs that need filling, but I'm not sitting in their office chairs.

They are expecting that the 2021 holiday season will see more large gatherings, which means big trips to the grocery store, which means they need to 'staff up.'

WHEN DOES THE JOB FAIR RUN?

Noon-3 p.m. on Wednesday October 13, 2021.

WHAT JOBS ARE THEY LOOKING TO FILL?

A wide variety:

  • Retail
  • Supply-chain
  • Merchandising
  • Pharmacy/healthcare
  • Logistics
  • Corporate
  • E-Commerce
  • Manufacturing

HOW WILL THE JOB FAIR OPERATE?

According to 9News, the event will include virtual and in-person interviews. I went to the registration site, and it looks like it will lean toward a 'text/chat' interview, where you are texting with an employee of the company. I did not complete the full registration, so I can't be sure. Maybe after some texting, you get an in-person interview.

I've known a few people who have started at King Soopers and stayed with the company for many, many years. This could be the start of a good job/career.

The thing is, we've have all seen the many 'Help Wanted' signs all over, and seen how businesses are suffering from lack of staffers; will King Soopers be offering what potential staffers are looking for, to achieve their 1,900 goal?

It could turn out to be an interesting three hours, on October 13.
