King Soopers is looking to redevelop the former Kmart lot at Drake Road and College Ave in Fort Collins.

The Coloradoan is reporting that King Soopers has submitted new redevelopment plans for the former Kmart building and surrounding lot. The grocery empire wants to fill the old building with nearly 50,000-square-foot grocery store, it's smallest in Fort Collins.

The plans for the surrounding lot include eight spots for grocery pickup, landscaping and pedestrian-friendly areas, taking out the Loaf and Jug gas station, (to make room for more business) 60 shared parking spaces for transit and a new gas station.

A neighborhood meeting will take place once the COVID-19 stay-at-home-order is lifted.
