It seems that every sharp knife I have is made by Calphalon. They have issued a recall on all their Calphalon Contemporary Knives. Over 2 million of these knives are being recalled after Calphalon received 27 reports hand injuries and approximately 3,150 reports of knife damage. These were sold at Amazon.com, J.C. Penney, Kohl’s, Macy’s and other national retailers between August 2008 and March 2016. Calphalon is issuing recall kits for affected products.

Here are the details of the recall:

Description: Contemporary Cutlery carving, chef, paring, santoku and utility knives sold individually and in sets made between August 2008 and March 2016. The table below lists the affected models.

To determine if your model is affected, click here to see sample images. Check your knife for a date code.  If your knife is not marked with a date code, you will need to register for a recall kit.  Knives marked “0860916” through “0865216” and knives marked with date codes ending in “7” are not affected and you may continue to safely use your knife or knives.  All other knives are affected by this announcement and you will need to register for a recall kit.
