Larimer County Extends Open Fire Ban Through November

The original order that began August 18, 2020, will go through not only through the end of October, but through November as well.

The Larimer County Commissioners recently voted 3-0 to extend the order, upon recommendation from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.

The first thing I think of, is 'What does it all entail?'

Here are the things that ARE banned:

• Charcoal and wood pellet grills
• Propane fire pits.
• elding, or operating acetylene or other torches.
• Smoking in the open, including trails, parks, and open spaces or outside of buildings.
• Fireworks or fireworks displays produced by combustion, detonation or deflagration.
• Incendiary devices, including sky lanterns, exploding ammunition, exploding targets, and tracer ammunition.
• Fires in permanently constructed outside stationary masonry or metal fireplaces.

Things that are NOT Banned:

• Propane grills.
• Operation of an internal combustion engine with a spark arresting device properly installed.
• Emergency signal devices and flares.
• Fires and wood stoves located inside permanent structures.
• Pressurized liquid or gas stoves, grills, lanterns, and heaters with shut-off valves in an area at least three feet away from any flammable/combustible materials.

Larimer County states that anyone violating the restrictions could be fined, but given the Cameron Peak, East Troublesome, and Cal-Wood Fires, let's hope that folks can be sensible.
