The forecasted harsh weather over the next two days has led the City of Loveland to activate their emergency shelter plan for homeless individuals.

The City-supported shelter, operated by the House of Neighborly Services at 137 S. Lincoln Ave., will be equipped to house as many as 20 people most in need of relief from blizzard-like conditions. Snow, high winds and temperatures in the teens forecast for Thursday and Friday nights.

City of Loveland Press Release

The City of Loveland partnered with Community Kitchen, the House of Neighborly Services and other organizations to ensure that people needing accommodation are aware of this shelter option, which can be found at 137 S. Lincoln Ave.

The cold-shelter plan, developed jointly by the City and other community agencies, is activated by criteria that include a severe winter storm warning from the National Weather Service, a severe wind-chill advisory, and/or a forecast for temperatures falling below zero degrees.

Although this city-supported shelter is usually a day-use operations facility, this would be the second time the center's cold-shelter program has been activated during Colorado's winter season.
