Starting on August 31, the City of Loveland will no longer be emptying overstuffed trash cans.

According to the Reporter-Herald, carts that are too full are causing messes and trash spills when they're picked up.

Another issue with overfilling is that animals can easily access the contents in the cans and tip them over.

The City of Loveland amended the city code in February, stating that the lids on trash cans must fully close. Residents that have violated the amendment have been advised about the new rule with a note on their trashcans.

At the end of the month, those notes will be replaced with a full trashcan after garbage day, as they will not be emptied by collection crews.
