Sunset Magazine recently presented travel awards that towns and cities in the Western United States, plus Mexico and Canada, had to submit a package for consideration. The results are in and leading the pack for "best mountain town" is Estes Park.

According to the Reporter-Herald, in a press release Tuesday from Visit Estes Park, the Sunset's editors pointed to the town's "full roster of outdoor activities, proximity to one of America's most popular national parks and the ease of driving here from the Front Range". They weren't done there. The Sunset also "called out our free outdoor music events and epic autumn foliage".

There were others in Northern Colorado that also won recognition from the magazine. The Reporter-Herald reported that the Elizabeth Hotel in Fort Collins was named best guest amenity and the YMCA of the Rockies was mentioned as a top tourist attraction runner-up.
