Man Air Lifted To Denver Hospital After Boulder Canyon Climbing Accident

Thursday, a 34-year-old male fell nearly 30 feet when climbing in the 32000 block of Boulder Canyon.  The Boulder County Sheriff's Office reported that when rescuers arrived, he was unconscious and seriously injured.

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Boulder County Emergency Services, Nederland Police Department, United States Forest Service, Nederland Fire Department, Rock Mountain Rescue (RMR), American Medical Response (AMR), Colorado Department of Transportation, and North Colorado Med Evac all responded to the incident.

Rescuers needed to perform a technical litter evacuation to get the climber to the roadway. He was then transported by the AMR to a Med Evac air ambulance, which then delivered him to a Denver area hospital.

The rescue lasted approximately two hours and required Boulder Canyon to be closed for safety during the technical rescue and helicopter landing, according to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
