Marines Deadly Accurate Up To 22 Miles With 155MM Shells To Set New World Record

DO NOT mess with our military and especially the Marines. They will blast you off the face of the planet at distances that are longer than most of us commute to work. Now, the fine folks in Golf Battery, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines have set a new world record. Oh yes, even the Marines can set records and they are records you don't want to be on the receiving end of.

They hail from Camp Pendleton: Golf Battery, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines. These fearless soldiers have been launching 155mm M982 Excalibur rounds on Afghani insurgents like they mean business.

Now it seems these Marines have set a record by firing a round out of an M77 howitzer at Forward Operating Base Zeebrugge, in Kajaki.  The shell was launched 36 kilometers, that's 22 miles, into the neighboring Musa Qala district. The round, with help from GPS  was able to maintain accuracy over an incredibly long distance and strike the Taliban insurgents out of the blue.

BLAM!

Thats like taking out a target in Berthoud from Windsor or from Windsor to Pierce or La Porte!

I love it! Never even saw it coming. But then again, it would be even sweeter knowing each of these dirt bag insurgents saw it coming.

The 'Excalibur' rounds are jam-resistant, can be fired in every weather scenario and can be fired at targets within 500 feet. Can you imagine getting blasted at 500' with a weapon designed to go 23 miles?  Not sure which one would be worse?

Long story short: If insurgents want to take out a howitzer they have to brave (there's an oxy-moron when it comes to insurgents) 20 miles of 'no-mans-land' in order to reach the target.
