My house is already a zoo. I have two dogs, a cat, a few fish, my yard is a bird and squirrel sanctuary with a few rabbits hanging around to round out the wild life preserve I call home. I have always said that there are no new heartbeats allowed in the house until a heartbeat has been silenced. I broke my own rule on Saturday.

My wife and I had to run to the pet store for cat food so we packed up the grandsons and made our way there. The boys walked in and immediately hit the floor in front of the turtle tank. They were staring at them and making it obvious that they really wanted turtles. My wife gave me what I interpreted to be the 'you should let the boys get turtles' look. I guess that wasn't the look she was giving but it is what I saw. I get these things wrong all the time...oh well.

We saw two turtles in the tank so we felt they needed to come home together. One of them is Red Eared Slider who is already letting me pet him on the head.

The other is a very cool African Side Neck. They are just what we wanted and took to the swimming pool on the deck right away. We are now working on making a proper habitat for them in the house and look forward to years of a turtle filled life. The boys named them Donnie and Raphie of course, Welcome my two new little friends to the K99 family.
