It's odd to me sometimes the thing's that will evoke memories. The Today show and Meredith Vieira, really? Meredith Vieira took over as co-host of the Today show in 2006. Vieira's predecessor was Katie Couric, who joined the show in 1991. So, I'm not really sure if it's Meredith herself that opened the memory box or if the changing of the guard, so to speak, is what inspired my lost thoughts

to resurface. Either way, I am grateful for what something so seemingly simple has brought to the forefront. I am happy to be able to recall the memories of yesterday because of Today.

The 90's were a world-wind time in my life. I moved to Colorado, lost my mother and had my two youngest children. I believe it's normal to  tie our personal adventures into national events, even if its just a television show losing its anchor or Ericka Cane renewing her marriage vows to Adam Chandler. All and all we are connected in life through the events around the world. Where were you when or what song was number one when you got married or had a baby. We tie all these crazy moments into our lives, possibly as memory mile markers so that we don't forget the important times. I am thankful for the markers, oddly they do help. Like memory games and brain teasers mile markers are great recall agents.

In 2006 Katie Couric left the Today show and Meredith became the new co-host. Unlike Couric's transition into the position when she took the place of Deborah Norvel, Vieira fit right into the slot seamlessly.  The memory mile marker here ignites to remind me that during this change I was entering a new chapter in my life. I had just met my James and began rediscovering 'me'. How fitting that 'Jesus Take The Wheel' was the top country song for 2006?

Like the hands of time, wait, is that another soap opera reference? Anyway, good times and bad can all be sparked by the most simple memory mile markers. Should your memories be sparked by something seemingly silly or unrelated, remember our words here and know you aren't alone.

Speaking of memory sparks, what memories have you recalled in the last ten minutes?
