It's been a newsmaking past month for the athletics department at Fossil Ridge High School, and it looks like it won't be quiet anytime soon.

According to the Coloradoan, Fossil Ridge athletic director Ken Denning has resigned from his post in an announcement made Wednesday morning.

Denning said in his statement to the Coloradoan that, "The current direction of the athletics in the district have caused a philosophical dilemma for me, which I think has led to this decision."

Denning leaves his post after being on the job for Fossil Ridge since 2009.

The news about the change with the athletic director position with the school marks another major setback to school, coming almost a month after football coach Brian Tinker was released from his duties as coach.

Tinker led the SaberCats for two seasons, posting a 5-5 record both seasons with playoff appearances in each.

Principal Will Allen made the decision to release Tinker from his duties, and there is no word on how Allen played into the decision of Denning.

Ken Denning will work through the end of his contract, which wraps up on June 9th.
