My Lawn Renovation is Almost Complete
My wife and I have been in our house now for almost 3 full years. The curb appeal was lacking and the previous homeowner had a lot of plants that just simply did not fit in with our lifestyle. I know what you are thinking to yourself right now... How can plants in a yard cramp your lifestyle? Simple... Maintenance! There were numerous plants that had vines, bushes that constantly need to be trimmed, etc.
At the beginning of August, the plan to kill off the front yard and start new became a reality. The last remaining bushes were removed, a crabapple tree that had fire blight was torn out and the grass was killed off in preparation of new grass. Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot going in and out of the front yard. over 450 keystone pavers were taken out one at a time, buckets upon buckets of landscape river rock were sifted and removed one 5 gallon bucket at a time to get ready to build the yard up.
Blood, sweat and cuss words went into the destruction of the yard. It has been very hard work, but it will soon pay off. I have now gotten to the point that the front lawn is ready for the grass seed to be laid down. A new irrigation system with four Rain Bird 5000 rotors has been put into place for the main area and the side strip of the lawn will be well watered with some PRS 1800 series sprinklers. I am hoping to have the grass seed down no later than this weekend. The grass seed I chose to use was Johnathan Green Black Beauty Ultra. It has been sitting in my garage for about two weeks now and I am so very eager to lay it down and wait for it to start sprouting! I will have a final post on how it looks very soon. But for now, check out all of the photos of my little yard overhaul!
