New Boating Hours Announced At Carter Lake, Horsetooth Reservoir
The Larimer County Department of Natural Resources shared new boating hours at Horsetooth Reservoir and Carter Lake for the month of May.
According to a news release on the Larimer County Department of Natural Resources website, the opening of Satanka ramp at Horsetooth Reservoir and North ramp at Carter Lake are being delayed due to a seasonal staffing shortage, which has affected the department’s ability to provide the adequate number of Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) inspectors needed to cover all boat ramps. As a result, the department has chosen to prioritize the boat ramps that can accommodate the greatest volume of boat launches.
Boating hours on Carter Lake currently span from 6 a.m.- 7 p.m., seven days a week, at North Pines and South Shore, and will expand at North Pines to 6 a.m.-10 p.m. on the weekends, beginning May 15. The North Ramp at Carter Lake is closed.
At Horsetooth Reservoir, the South Bay is open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 6 a.m.- 7 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Beginning May 15, boating hours will be extended to 6 a.m.-10 p.m on weekends.
The Inlet Bay boat ramp is open 7 a.m.- 7 p.m. seven 7 days a week, and will also open at 6 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, beginning May 15.
The Satanka remains closed.
The South Bay ramp at Horsetooth Reservoir and North Pines ramp at Carter Lake have gate systems that allow boaters to exit those ramps after hours. The gates allow vehicles to exit the areas where the ramps are located but not enter. Trailers must be parked at those ramps before hours end for the day.
