You might soon get fined for texting or talking on your phone in Colorado.

The Denver Post reports a proposed legislation would fine up to $300 for texting while driving. Fines for phone use while driving would start at $50.

The bill would also prohibit drivers under 18 from using their phone in any way while driving.

I totaled my car back in high school when I read a text while driving, so I can attest to the seriousness of this bill.

This bill was proposed last year but didn't pass. Colorado representatives like Dylan Roberts are determined to bass this bill into law, telling the Denver Post “It’s a pretty common-sense measure to make our roads safer.”
