If you're like me, then you were delighted at the idea of outdoor seating anywhere and everywhere following COVID-19.

Although, its all fun and games until it starts getting cold in Colorado. I don't know if you're a Game of Thrones fan but can I just say, "winter is coming" and restaurant dining is about to be tested.

Fort Collins didn't waste time converting parking lots and sidewalks into dining areas in support of local restaurants, who would otherwise have had little to no dining options under COVID-19 restrictions.

According to the Coloradoan, extended outdoor dining was only supposed to last through September but Polis recently extended the program through March.

As of September 25, 65 businesses had applied for an expanded outdoor area through the Fort Collins program.

 

On Friday, October 9, Polis declared Larimer County as a 'high risk zone' for COVID-19.

Unfortunately, there is already a strain on Colorado's propane and patio heater supply. The Denver-based supplier of fireplaces and patio heaters, Colorado Comfort Products has seen a spike in sales since June.

Restaurants also have to consider tent permits and the hefty price tag of patio heaters, that is if they can find one. The initial cost of propane tanks has cost Kristy Wygmans, owner of the Old Town bar Pour Brothers, around $650 according to the Coloradoan.
