Oyster 'Virgins' Can Try Delicacy for Free at Jax Fish House

March means Oyster Month at J ax Fish House, and the Fort Collins restaurant plans on celebrating the tiny mollusk in big ways.

Never tried an oyster before? Jax is giving oyster 'virgins' the chance to try the delicacy on the house. During the entire month of March, the eatery will comp one oyster to diners who have yet to ever sample the shellfish. The free oyster can come fried, naked, NOLA char-grilled or on the half-shell — eater's choice. The oyster occasion also includes a commemorative koozie.

The oyster festivities continue with menu specials, including the option to add a fried oyster to any Jax dish for $2 all month long. Jax Fish House is also unveiling a new America's Four Corners Sampler, which features unique bivalve varieties from the northwest, Baja, southeast, and northeast. Also available to diners throughout the month of March are cucumber-gin oyster shooters, buffalo-fried oysters, Korean hot fried oysters and chicken-fried West Coast oyster platters.

Beyond this, the specials just keep going, like the Shucker's Dozen, where diners order 12 oysters and receive 13 on the plate, and the Oyster King Card, where guests get a free half-dozen for every five half-dozen Emersum oysters they order. In addition, Jax will treat visitors who purchase a Celebration or Ultimate Sampler with a free bottle of Chateau St. Michelle.

To celebrate 'National Oyster On the Half Shell Day', Jax will be offering $2 Emersum oysters all evening on March 31.

The restaurant also has contests and giveaways going on throughout the month. Anyone who tags Jax on social media, while showing off their oyster-eating shenanigans, will be entered to win an upcycled, painted shell art piece, courtesy of Healing on the Half Shell. The beautiful shells can be used as a jewelry dish, a tiny air plant holder or just a sustainable piece of décor. Proceeds from HOTHS go towards raising funds for BIPOC survivors of domestic violence.

Another giveaway taking place is the Dozen Dozens deal. Diners who order a dozen oysters automatically get entered into a drawing for the chance to win free oysters for a year or an at-home oyster party from Jax's Roving Raw Bar. Sounds like a shucking good time!
