A suspicious package located on an Englewood high school football field has been deemed an active explosive device according to the Denver Post.

The pipe bomb was found at around 4 p.m. on January 16 at the Englewood Alternative High School located at 300 W. Chenango Avenue. Police announced on Thursday that the discovery of the suspicious package was in fact an active explosive.

Arapahoe County Bomb Squad took possession of the device and cleared the area. This is currently an active investigation and anyone with information is being asked to contact 303-761-7410.
