This is nuts! I am sorry, I couldn't help myself... It seems as of recently we have had way too many food-borne illness outbreaks. This one is coming from pistachios. Specifically pistachios sold under the brand names of Wonderful, Paramount Farms and Trader Joes.

Wonderful Pistachios, based out of Lost Hills, California has issued a voluntary recall on the nuts. The bags that can be at risk are identified with a 13 digit code on the lower back of the package. Additionally, it appears that King Soopers is calling customers to alert them to the recall as one of my co-workers received a call earlier today.

So far there have been 11 reported salmonella cases linked to the outbreak. Two have been hospitalized and thankfully no one has died. According to ABC News the outbreak has stretched across nine states including Alabama, Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Virginia, and Washington.

More information about the Salmonella outbreak can be found at the CDC's website HERE.
