Around this time of year, the Poudre School District is typically sharing class lists and planning back-to-school nights for next fall.

With the uncertainty of the what the future looks like in the COVID-19 pandemic, that's all been put on hold.

Superintendent Sandra Smyser updated parents on the situation in a Friday (May 8) letter, stating that the Fort Collins area school district is "planning for various scenarios that ultimately will be influenced by public health conditions and local and state orders."

Smyser said the school district will announce the different scenarios to parents and guardians by June 30.

"We are not ready to make a district-wide decision about how education will look in PSD this fall, as we do not know what our community’s COVID-19 public health climate and response will look like in August, September or beyond," Smyser said in the letter.

The 2020-21 PSD calendar currently has the first day of school scheduled for Monday, Aug. 17.
