Pumpkins on Parade Event Returning To The Gardens This Month
For years, the Halloween Enchanted Gardens event at the Gardens on Spring Creek in Fort Collins had been a tradition among children in Northern Colorado who are looking for a fun, creative way to celebrate Halloween.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, Halloween Enchanted Gardens was canceled in 2020 but was replaced with another spooktacular event - Pumpkins on Parade.
The event was such a success, The Gardens is bringing it back for another year.
Pumpkins on Parade, the ultimate celebration of Halloween and the harvest will feature The Gardens’ second annual community carved pumpkin contest, hundreds of pumpkins and gourds arranged in artistic displays, on-site food trucks, and a full bar with warm, festive drinks available for purchase, as per an Oct. 5 news release from The Gardens.
The event will also feature festive, kid-friendly games (i.e; pumpkin bowling) each night and live entertainment from TimFoolery the Magician, the Amy and the Good Little Witches, and the Colorado State University Bug Zoo.
Candy-free prizes will be awarded to games participants.
To children with food allergies, Halloween might not be the most exciting holiday. A primary goal of Gardens on Spring Creek's Halloween events, and the big mission behind The Halloween Enchanted Gardens extravaganza, was to offer all children an enjoyable, candy-free way to celebrate Halloween. Pumpkins on Parade was created to replace the Halloween Enchanted Gardens but is structured to offer children and their families alike an equally exciting, fun, and safe event.
The Gardens has hosted a candy-free Halloween celebration for more than a decade.
“For kids with food allergies, Halloween is not always fun,” Ashley Krueger, Education Coordinator for the Gardens on Spring Creek said in the Oct. 5 news release.
“They often can’t engage in a way that feels safe – like reaching their hand into a bucket of candy – without worrying about cross-contamination or peanut oil being on the outside of a wrapper. Creating a safe space for children to explore is a critical part of what we do at The Gardens, and this event is an example of our commitment to our community.”
Pumpkins on Parade, presented by Colorado Allergy and Asthma Centers, will take place from Oct. 21 through Oct. 24 from 6 – 9 p.m. nightly.
