Recipe Rescue: Krautburger Casserole; Oh Yes I Did!
I love krautburgers, but seldom have the patience to make individual 'packages' so I figured I would throw it all together, put it in a pan and roll it up roll it up in one dish. It's a great recipe for the krautburger craving and pretty darn simple to put together. So, lets get it going and head to the kitchen.
What You'll Need:
1 lb hamburger
season to taste with
season all and pepper
1 head of green cabbage
2 cups sauerkraut
1 small yellow onion, diced
1 can cheddar cheese soup
1/2 can milk
1 puff pastry sheet
1 egg
1 tsp water
Putting It All Together:
preheat over 400
In a 6 quart sauce pan brown hamburger
with onion and seasonings, add cabbage cook for ten
minutes on medium low, covered
add sauerkraut, cheddar cheese soup
and 1/2 can milk, mix well and put
into a 9 x 13 casserole dish. top
with pastry sheet, brush top of
pastry with egg wash (the egg and water
beaten together) and bake till
golden brown and bubbly.
serve with boiled potatoes
