Recipe Rescue: Not Quite Betty White Top 10 Material; Mac N Cheese Add In’s!
Betty White continues to get attention for being mature and she only get's funnier as the years go by. Betty White appeared on David Letterman and gave her top 10 list for staying young. She didn't mention mac n cheese, but I have read that she enjoys hot dogs and that reminded me of this classic dish and its versatility. Come along with me for a mac n cheese trip to the past and beyond. What You'll Need:
your favorite mac n cheese recipe-
from a box, grandma's classic concoction
or I'll include a basic recipe at the end
of the end.
Mexican Mac N Cheese
1 LB ground turkey or hamburger
1 small onion
D's taco seasoning*
1 Tbsp fresh or pickled jalapeno's
Chicken Cordon Bleu Mac N Cheese
2 cups cooked chicken (great for leftovers)
1/2 Lb ham cubed
4 slices swiss cheese
Italian Mac N Cheese
4 links spicey Italian sausage
1/2 red bell pepper
1/2 yellow bell pepper
Big Mac Mac N Cheese
1 LB Hamburger
2 Tbsp thousand island dressing
1/4 cup sweet pickle relish
1 Tbsp dried onions (rehydrated)
*D's taco seasoning
1/4 tsp each garlic powder,
cayenne, paprika and oregano
1 tsp each of chili powder &
red pepper flakes
2 tsp cumin
Putting It All Together:
Prepare Mac N Cheese and set aside
Mexican N Cheese
brown meat, once 3/4 done add chopped
onion and seasonings with 1/2 cup water
let simmer five minutes and add to
Mac N Cheese-top with Jalapeno's
Chicken Cordon Bleu Mac N Cheese
add chicken and ham to your mac n cheese
mix well, top with Swiss cheese and
place in a preheated 350 degree oven
for 10-15 minutes
Italian Mac N Cheese
cook sausage through add peppers
and a splash of olive oil and cook
till peppers soften.
add to mac n cheese-if desired
top with sprinkled Parmesan cheese.
Big Mac Mac N Cheese
brown hamburger with rehydrated onions,
drain and add to
mac n cheese
mix in thousand island dressing
and sweet relish
