The cost to hike was about to take a $40 hike, leaving us cringing. However, the National Park Service says park fees will not raise as drastically as previously stated.

According to KDVR, the day pass fee for park entrance at RMNP was set to spike from $30 to $70, which had many of us disappointed and realizing that a $40 entrance fee increase would make the parks too expensive for the average Coloradan to get out and enjoy regularly, if at all.

Great news though -- as of yesterday, the National Park Service released the following statement:

'On April 12, 2018, the National Park Service announced changes to the entrance fees charged at 117 national parks as part of its ongoing efforts to address aging park infrastructure that is critical to the visitor experience. The changes will be implemented in many of the parks that charge entrance fees beginning June 1, 2018. More than two-thirds of national parks will remain free to enter.'

The National Park Service will raise the fee for Rocky Mountain National Park from $30 to $35 as of June 1, 2018. The only thing that'll run you $70 is the annual pass!

(Also, FREE DAY is coming up on April 21, 2018 for National Park Week.)
