It has been 50 years since the first person walked on the moon. In those 50 years, technology has made so many improvements and expanded horizons of what we know about space. This week, we finally get our first glimpse of what a black hole looks like through a photograph.

The image was captured through eight ground-based telescopes designed to capture an actual image of a black hole in space. The black hole was photographed at the center of Messier 87. A galaxy that is located in the Virgo galaxy cluster. The very first photographed black hole is located approximately 55 million light years away from earth. The black hole also has a mass that is 6.5 billion times more than our sun.
