Driving into work recently, I saw something new: At the roundabout at 7th Street and New Liberty Road, there are two new massive, gracefully soaring pelicans.

According to the Town of Windsor, the pelicans have a 22-foot wingspan.

The statue was made possible by a $50,000 donation from local developer and Colorado Eagles owner Martin Lind.

"We felt rather than keep this magnificent art internal to our project we would share with all of Northern Colorado to enjoy," Lind said in an email.

"The pelican is the town bird and its majesty is not only awe inspiring, but it’s a biblical figure to represent caring and nurturing and protecting. What better inspiration could a community embrace?"

The sculpture was designed by Windsor resident Sheldon Roberts.

"Sheldon Roberts is unique to the world and his talent has no boundaries," Lind said. "We’re blessed he calls Windsor home."
