Semi-Truck Collision Causes Explosion in Greeley

A semi-truck caused an explosion in Greeley after it collided with a natural gas pipeline.

According to 9News, the incident occurred on Thursday (March 18) near Weld County Road 29 and Weld County Road 72, when a 40-year-old man drove the sandbox semi-truck into the pipeline.

The crash resulted in an explosion near a North Greeley home. Thankfully, there was nothing hazardous or explosive in the vehicle at the time.

A citizen took the driver to a nearby hospital. His condition is currently unknown, but no other people or property were affected by the accident.

The pipeline belonged to DCP Midstream, a Fortune 500 natural gas company based in Denver. A representative for the company told the station that the impacted pipeline valve has since been isolated.

Firefighters from Greeley, Eaton, Ault, and Windsor all played a part in handling the explosion. The Eaton Fire Department is currently investigating the incident.
