Two suspects have been arrested following an overnight shooting that occurred in a Fort Collins neighborhood last week, and now police are asking the community to report any damage or evidence that may be related to this crime.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on March 5, Fort Collins Police responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Saddlebrook Lane and Antigua Drive, as well as near Kechter Road between Timberline Road and Zeigler Road.

Upon arriving in the area, officers located a suspicious vehicle and proceeded to initiate a traffic stop. During this stop, police arrested the driver, 24-year-old Christian Buendia  and passenger, 23-year-old Walter Herrera in connection with the reported shooting incident that had just occurred. While searching the vehicle, police located a stolen handgun.

Buendia was booked into the Larimer County Jail on charges of Prohibited Use of a Weapon (class 2 misdemeanor) and Driving After Revocation (class 1 misdemeanor).

Herrera was arrested on charges of Resisting Arrest (class 2 misdemeanor), Violation of Bail Bond Conditions (class 6 felony), Prohibited Use of a Weapon (class 2 misdemeanor), and Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender (class 6 felony). He remains in custody at the Larimer County Jail.

According to The Coloradoan, a third suspect was arrested on March 6, in connection with the shooting. 19-year-old Andrew Herrera remains in the Larimer County Jail on charges of Possession of a Weapon by a previous offender (Class 6 felony), Violation of Bail Bond Conditions (Class 6 felony) and Obstruction of a Peace Officer (Class 2 misdemeanor).

Following this incident, police are asking residents in the areas mentioned above to report any shell casings or property damage, like bullet holes, that would have been related to this shooting. Those who do come across any evidence should immediately contact police at 970-419-FCPD(3273).

All charges are simply an accusation by law enforcement officers, and any arrested party must be presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
