I am a movie freak. I love sitting down and getting lost in a good film. I especially like movies about music. I love biographies but even if it is fictional, and is about a singer, I am generally interested. There have been some great country music movies over the years and some not so great, like Sylvester Stallone and Dolly Parton in 'Rhinestone'.

I watched 'Coal Miner's Daughter' the other day and just loved it. I then started thinking of other great country themed movies that I loved and came up with these. Keep in mind there are many more excellent ones but these are six that I feel every country music fan should see.

Walk the Line - This is the gold standard. Great film. Great acting. Great music and one hell of a love story.

Crazy Heart - Jeff Bridges is mind blowing in the lead role. He IS the character and you can feel him. The character could be based any number of old country singers. Bridges performance is worth the watch alone but the rest of the cast is incredible as well. Great movie.

Coal Miner's Daughter - The story of Loretta Lynn and her amazing life. Tommy Lee Jones is awesome in this one as well as Sissy Spacek, who did her own singing in the film.

Pure Country - My favorite. It features George Strait and the song "I Cross My Heart"...enough said.

Tender Mercies - Robert Duvall won best actor for this one and also does his own singing. This is worth a watch if you have not seen it.

Sweet Dreams - The story of Patsy Cline ends sadly as we all know but her life was quite an interesting journey and captured perfectly in this film. A must see. .
