Like guns? Like to shoot? Like to help wounded vets, police officers and honor those before them as well? Me too, read on.

The event which was started last year, take veterans on a 2 day goose hunt.  In it's first year, 7 vets were taken to Canada to blast a few honkers.  It was also last year that one of the organizers, Jeremy Heid, met the Birdwell family from here in Windsor.  As many of you know, they lost their son Christopher in Afghanistan in 2012.

Heid was so enamored by the family that the event named was changed and now known as The Christopher Birdwell Memorial Honker Down for Wounded Veterans. The event takes place this weekend and I have good and bad news. The hunt and dinner is already full but the skeet shooting competition on Sunday the 26th is open to all.  In fact, if I weren't in Omaha Nebraska this weekend, I would show you all how to shoot some skeet.

Check in will be this Sunday, January 26th at 1:00 PM at Great Guns (16126 WCR 96) in Nunn.  All shooters need to bring with them are 4 boxes of shells and pay the registration fee of $50. If you don't have time to buy shells you can buy them on site for $8 per box.  (Proceeds benefit Field of Dreams)

To get signed up today or for more information please call Jeremy Heid at 970-381-9876.
