The Colorado Division of Criminal Justice wanted to know what's been causing the increase of homeless people, mainly the ones who end up in jail.  507 inmates were surveyed from seven jails in Arapahoe, El Paso, Larimer, Mesa and Pueblo Counties, as well as both Denver County and City.

The question they asked was simply "What brought you to Colorado?"

For 35.1 percent of the 77 respondents who moved to Colorado after the state legalized recreational marijuana in 2012, the answer was wacky tobaccy - medical, recreational, or both.

Pot wasn't the top reason they stay in Colorado, however.  It falls behind "getting away from a problem," family, friends, and outdoor activities.

Inmates who aren't homeless also mentioned weed as being the reason to move to Colorado 21.6% of the time.
