Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of a physical disturbance and possible burglary in progress in the 9000 block of Spirit Street in Wellington on Tuesday (September 26, 2017 at approximately 4:17 pm.) A woman told dispatchers that a known male was trying to force his way into her bedroom. The man kicked open the bedroom door, swung a baseball bat at the woman, and began destroying property with the bat. The woman was able to get out of the home prior to deputies arriving on scene.

Deputies established a perimeter around the home and tried to contact the suspect, but he would not respond. The victim told deputies she had been staying at the home and the suspect was a resident there as well. Deputies were able to identify the suspect as Raymond A. Duffy and learned he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.

The Larimer County Regional SWAT team responded just before 9:00 pm. The suspect surrendered to SWAT members at the front door and was taken into custody without further incident.

Duffy was booked into the Larimer County Jail on the following allegations.

  • 1st Degree Burglary
  • Menacing
  • Violation of Bail Bond Conditions x 2
  • Larimer County Warrant – Failure to Appear / DUI - $3,000 bond
  • CSP Warrant – Fail to Comply / DWAI – bond not set
