Father's Day is this Sunday so don't forget your Dad. Those of you who are lucky enough to still have your Dad with you, let him know and if your Dad is gone now, you can still pay respect to him on his day. (Photo included of my Dad's grave and what I did on Father's day 3 years ago.)

Along comes another edition of "Vickie's Corner" and this week she seems upset. I admire her honesty and fact driven blog and just as I invited her to share her thoughts on my blog page, I always welcome those who oppose her views to share them as well in a well thought out and professional way. If you have an interest in sharing views from another side, please email me and I will feature you once a week as well.

Memorial Day marks the beginning of Summer, camping and the tasty BBQ season. But it should be a stark reminder to us all that Memorial Day is not about camping and BBQ's at all; it's a time to reflect on those who sacrificed their lives so that we may have the freedom we have to do all these things this weekend. As we enjoy our freedom this week, let's all take a moment to remember those soldiers who are not with us.

Last week I was reading a story on a military veteran who believe it or not was willing to give up her spot at Arlington National Cemetary for the alleged Boston Bomber who died in shootout with police last month. I was personally appalled and so are millions of others.

The billboard controversy coming out of Greeley rages on and fuels more debate on what is right or wrong and the political correctness of it all. I have again asked a friend of mine to share her thoughts this week on the subject not only because I love how she writes and puts thoughts on paper but she always speaks from the heart, with conviction and purpose. This may be my favorite piece she's done; incredible.

Hollywood and those well known millionaires who make a living on the big screen supporting guns but in real life, are totally against them for the most part. Complete hypocrites? Vickie Downing shares her thoughts this week on Vickie's Corner.

In the midst of the Boston Marathon Bombing, the devastating explosion in West Texas and now the largest manhunt holding an entire city hostage, we all find comfort in knowing there are always "good" people amongst us and we are reminded of that daily. Here is another great perspective from a non-media based friend.

It's Friday and time for "Vickie's Corner." Vickie Downing is a good friend of mine I met through Journey 4 Justice in 2011 and I started this feature because not only is she a fantastic writer (get the Websters handy) but she loves our Constitution and takes their values very serious; regardless if she personally believes in them or not. This week is another great example of extruding common sense.

Vickie's Corner is a feature I started last week after I asked a friend of mine to share some of her thoughts. She has a lot of them, and they are always well versed, written and thought out so this was my way of giving someone a platform to share their thoughts as a member of society and non media based. Enjoy.

I have been very fortunate in life to surround myself with some amazing people. Vickie Downing is a long story on how she came into my life but let's just say that I have again been blessed.
