K99 has teamed up with LaSalle Oil to “Celebrate Colorado’s Farmers and Ranchers". I love eggs. Most of us do. On average a person consumes five eggs a week. A hen produces just over five eggs a week and we have 4,250,000 hens laying eggs in our state.

Egg Production Numbers in Colorado

In Colorado, egg production ranks 9th among agricultural products. In 2012, Colorado hens were very productive producing 291 eggs per hen for a total of nearly 1.3 billion eggs. Total gross income from egg production was $96.2 million. In 2012 the farmer producing eggs received .89 cents per dozen. In terms of egg producing states, Colorado ranks as 23rd in the nation.

The Far Reaching Impact of Colorado Egg Production

Colorado egg farmers support more than 250 farm families.  Eggs from Colorado are distributed to Colorado, Arizona, California, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Utah,  and Wyoming. Egg producers purchase over 4,400,000 bushels of corn each year to feed their hens.
