The Meaning Of Christmas

This morning on the air Brian was talking about the meaning of Christmas and how we seem to get lost in it. We get so stressed out trying to find the perfect gift or get the house decorated just right, that we forget that Christmas is about a feeling. It's about love, joy, hope and happiness. A K99 listener,  Rick Nelson, wrote this poem and sent it to us. He really gets what Brian was trying to say.

The meaning of Christmas has long been forgot,

Yet for centuries it is what we’ve all sought.

It’s not about giving the biggest gift,

It is about healing that family rift.

It’s not about shopping for the best deal,

It’s about helping a friends heart to heal.

It’s not a good Christmas because of the money you spent,

It’s a good Christmas because of the love you sent.

It’s not a good Christmas because the stores sold so much,

It’s about friends and family and keeping in touch.

The meaning of Christmas is plain and clear,

It’s about holding the ones you love close and dear.

The meaning of Christmas has long been forgot,

Yet for centuries it’s what we’ve all sought.

So this year seek Christmas from these simple words,

Faith, love, forgiveness, peace, joy, charity, happiness,

family friends and hope.

Give from your heart love with your soul.

May your Christmas be as bright and joyous as it can be,

Be good to yourself and better to everyone else.
