We've worked together for a little over a year now and spend about eight hours a day together in a small(ish) room, so needless to say, we've gotten to know each other pretty well both on and off the air.

Some things I've learned about my on air partner Maxx is that she's loyal, she's smart, she's funny without trying to be, she loves Luke Combs to an almost stalker-type level, is completely addicted to her phone, has way too many dating apps, has horrible luck with men, and maybe even a more horrible sense of time. Oh, and that she's just an overall piece of work. But I love her like a sister, even though she says I'm more like her dad. That's just flat-out creepy, but I digress.

The biggest thing I've come to know about my morning show partner is that she sucks at being on time and thrives on showing up for things, mostly our morning show, at the very last second possible. Or even, dare I say, a few minutes late.

Since our very first day on the air, October 19, 2020, we've come to know each other's likes, dislikes, and quirks, and one of the things I've always been a stickler for is being on time.

It's a pretty simple thing that requires a little planning, but I don't think it's something that's too difficult to do.

I came from a military family where my father and grandfather always told me, "If you're on time, you're late", and that's always stuck with me.

So, over the past 13 months or so, I've come to discover that Maxx at times can have a little bit of a problem with her time management skills. But instead of just calling herself out and admitting that she's just late, there's always an excuse.

I've heard some good ones over our time together, and I'd like to share some of those with you now. Perhaps you have a time management issue that you're working on or perhaps have a coworker or family member that sucks at being on time. I feel your pain.

Look, I'm not here to throw Maxx under the bus - not too far anyway - but I thought it would be funny to put together a list of excuses that I've heard for her running late. I have to admit, most of these are pretty unique and creative. And, she thinks or used to think that I actually bought these.

We get up and start work early...way too early for a human to be able to function for most of the day, but it's what we do. I'll be the first to admit, when there's something that needs to be done she does it and I wouldn't want another morning show partner, period.

This is simply one of those issues that she has and admits she's working on. Lord knows I have my fair share of issues that I'm working on too. We all do right?

So hey, if you're one of those people that struggle with being on time and are always making excuses for why you're late, perhaps you can try one of these gems on your boss or coworkers. They just might work. Or not.
