I will probably lose my Guy Card for saying this, but I am kinda scared of the dark. Well, maybe not so much the dark, but I am frightened of what might be in the dark, like someone with bad intentions or a large animal, like a mountain lion or a bear. However, that didn't even make my top 5 of "The Things That Scare The Bejeebers Out of Me". Here is that list.

5. Scary Movies

I hate, hate, hate scary movies.  I know you shouldn't really hate anything, but I think you really shouldn't make horror movies either. They scare the crap out of me, and I don't like it.  I even quit my job as a projectionist at the theater in Holyoke when I was in high school because I had to see one of the Halloween movies for an entire month. It freaked me out. I am so glad my wife feels the same way.  "The Sixth Sense" was even too scary for me. Yes, I am a wuss.

4. Sushi

How can someone be scared of raw fish? Well, I am.  I am too frightened to eat sushi.  I think it is because I heard one of those urban legends that you can die if your sushi is not prepared properly. Supposedly, some guy even did. Dinner is not worth dying over.

3. Carnival Rides That Go Round and Round

I've never been a big fan of carnival rides, especially the ones that spin around. I think what I am really afraid of is that they will make me hurl.  It happened once after riding The Zipper at the Greeley Stampede. I relocate my BBQ sandwich from my stomach to some bushes near the statue.  I also don't like things that drop, like the tower of Doom at Elitch Gardens.

2. Death

Yes, I'm afraid to die.  That's why I am not a major risk taker or thrill seeker.  If you could die doing it, I probably won't try it. I suppose it's a deep rooted fear that was instilled in me as a child. It was pounded into me three times a week in church when I was growing up.  "If you are bad, you will go to Hell".  That didn't seem appealing to me, so death seemed very scary because I was always sure I must have done something wrong at some point to make me eligible.  By the way, I don't like open casket funerals, because dead bodies freak me out. The worst job I can imagine would be a mortician.

1.Snakes

O.K., here is the biggee! I am scare to death of snakes. There is nothing I hate worse. Don't put your pet snake on me. I will kill it. I promise.  Snakes are the creepiest thing I can think of.  I have been terrified of them since I was a little kid.  It doesn't matter what kind it is. Even harmless Garter Snakes give me the Willies! I have killed lots of snakes in my life because "They scare the bejeebers out of me"!
