Students who don't have access to at-home technology are in luck, as the Thompson School District is allowing students to check out and borrow Chromebook laptops.

Starting Monday, any family with a student registered at a Thompson school who has no computer at home can borrow one device for learning while the schools are closed due to the Coronavirus.

If you don't have internet access at your home, Comcast is offering two months free to qualifying families at internetessentials.com/covid19. Families can apply for this deal using free district internet access, which they can utilize from their vehicles by parking on the east side of Loveland High School, located 920 W. 29th St.; outside of Berthoud High School, located at 850 Spartan Ave.; or in the south parking lot of the Administration Building, located at 800 S. Taft Ave. Just be sure to use the 'guest' Wi-Fi if you're using your own device, or 'TSD' if you're using your student's. You'll need your child's Google account information to log in to the TSD network as well, so be sure to come prepared.

To request a Chromebook, fill out THIS FORM. Or, you can go in person to the checkout station at Mary Blair Elementary School, located at 860 E. 29th St. The station will be open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. M-F, though if there is a line, it is requested that families stand 6 ft. apart, as per CDC regulations.

Parents or guardians must be with their students to checkout the technology, which is limited to one per household.
