A probable cause statement indicated that “other passengers intervened and removed the defendant’s grasp from the victim and had him wait for the police to arrive.”

Denver Police arrived on scene and arrested Hiers around 1:20 a.m, then booked him into the city’s jail. Jeffrey Hiers is now facing two misdemeanor charges for assault; he was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.

Court paperwork from the June 17 incident does not reveal what prompted the attack, as per reports from 9News. In addition, a spokesperson for the Denver International Airport deferred comment to Denver Police, which then deferred comment to the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

However, 9News said the DA’s Office eventually confirmed Hiers is facing two misdemeanor counts.

A background check on Jefffrey Hiers determined that this is his only arrest in the state of Colorado.
