UPDATE: Officials have identified 24-year-old Tristen Watson, of Colorado Springs, and her 17-month old son, Christopher Watson, as the bodies found in Rocky Mountain National Park on January 24. 

They both died of gunshot wounds on the Beaver Meadow Trail. No other information is available.


Park rangers discovered two deceased individuals in Rocky Mountain National Park on Friday, January 24.

Officials began searching the park after being notified about a suicidal person in the area, according to a news release from Rocky Mountain National Park.

They found the person's vehicle near Upper Beaver Meadows Road. Traffic was temporarily halted between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. that day while rangers conducted a search.

Officials found the body of the individual, along with another deceased person, and immediately began an on-scene investigation.

The individuals were taken to the Larimer County Coroner's Office. They will not be identified until the next of kin are notified.

A cause of death will be released once the autopsy is complete.

The investigation is still underway and no other information is available as of yet.
