Two Legendary Climbers Die on the Same Day
In the climbing community, their names are well known for their achievements and their passion for the sport. Jeff Lowe and Tom Frost did make a climb together in the Himalayas, they also passed away on the same day.
According to the Coloradoan, Lowe's partner, Connie Self, said he died Friday evening in Fort Collins at a care facility. He was 67 and had suffered from a neurodegenerative disorder for years. Lowe climbed peaks around the world and might be best known for a solo ascent of Eiger in the Swiss Alps in 1991.
Tom Frost, 82, died Friday in Oakdale, California from cancer. Frost's biographer, Steve Grossman, says that Frost was "one of the pillars of the 'golden age' of Yosemite climbing."
