We all remember Kelsey Berreth, the young mother and pilot whose disappearance caught national attention a few weeks back. Today, according to this article from 9 News, a multi-jurisdictional team arrested Kelsey’s fiancé, Patrick Frazee, on charges of first-degree murder and solicitation of first-degree murder. No one else has been arrested in conjunction with Mr. Frazee, but Woodland Park Police Chief Miles De Young says that it is an “absolute possibility.”

Frazee was taken from his home early this morning, and will be made aware of the charges around 3:30 p.m. In addition, the Frazee’s 1-year-old daughter has also been taken into protective custody. Supposedly, Frazee was the last one to see Berreth in person when the couple exchanged their daughter after her shopping trip, and as the arrest indicates, investigators no longer believe that they will find Kelsey alive.

However, this has not halted their efforts to locate the missing mother, as De Young stated in a press conference this morning: “While we have not found Kelsey at this time, information has been developed that is helping to narrow down our search.” As of this writing, Frazee voluntarily released his phone and provided buccal swaps and photographs to officers, and “investigators have recovered a number of items that make us suspicious that the crime did occur at Kelsey’s residence.”

It is still unclear how or why Berreth’s phone pinged in Gooding, Idaho three days after Thanksgiving, although she does have family in the area. Additionally, 9 News reported that Berreth texted her employer on the same day her phone registered in Idaho, saying that she would not be in the following week.
