Nearly 200 workers at the Vestas facility in Brighton will be relieved of their duties early next year.

Vestas Wind Systems is a Danish wind-energy company with U.S. manufacturing plants in Windsor, Brighton and Pueblo.

According to the Denver Post, Vestas Blades America Inc., a subsidiary of Vestas Winds Systems, plans to cut 185 workers from its Brighton operations in January 2021.

Vestas' website says that the company currently employs more than 3,400 workers in Colorado, including 1,100 making turbine blades in Brighton and another 400 making nacelles, the box behind the blades that houses the generator.

Vestas did not specify what employees are being let go, but the cuts will effect about 12% of Brighton facility workers.

Hans Jespersen, the head of operations at Vestas Blades America, told the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment Tuesday (Nov. 17) that the layoffs of Brighton Facility employees is expected to occur on January 17th, 2021.
