A trail runner was attacked Monday at Horsetooth Mountain Park. The man was on the West Ridge Trail when a juvenile mountain lion attacked him from the back. The runner sustained bite injuries to the face and wrists, puncture wounds to the arms, legs and back.

In an act of self defense, the runner killed the mountain lion to save his life. Currently, Colorado Parks and Wildlife are investigating the attack that took place west of Fort Collins.
