It's hard to imagine a better Veterans Day gift than hearing that your mortgage has been paid off.

According to CBS4 Denver, Berthoud resident and Marine Veteran Scott Ostrom got the news on Veterans Day that the Veterans United Home Loans had paid off his mortgage.

The loan company held a Twitter campaign where for every 'Thank You' tweet that used the hashtag #MakeItMeanMore between 12 a.m. and 11:59:59 p.m. on Veterans Day, they put $25 towards paying off deserving Veterans' mortgages.

They raised over $2.7 million.

Wow.

Veterans United had already committed $2 million to the fund, so they got to make calls to 11 Veterans on Veterans Day.

According to CBS4 Denver and the video, Ostrom has been recovering from PTSD after serving two tours in Iraq.  A well-deserving Veteran, indeed.
