The Cameron Peak Fire has grown over three thousand acres in the last 24 hours landing at 167,153 acres as of Friday morning, according to the Incident Information System.

I know some Coloradans have been annoyed that the fire in California has received so much publicity while we've been here quietly choking on smoke for two months.

Well, I opened my yahoo email yesterday to see the that the Cameron Peak Fire is finally getting picked up by the likes of ABC News, the Washington Post and CNN just to name a few.

Townsquare Media has about a dozen local content creators who live here just like you do and we have been tracking this fire since day one. You can follow its progression by clicking the 'Cameron Peak Fire' button on our station's website.

Fire officials have downgraded evacuation orders and made good progress on Thursday in holding the fire South of 44 H (Buckhorn Road), according to the Cameron Peak Fire Facebook page.

Fire crews are reminding residents not to fly drones above the Cameron Peak Fire. Fire officials have no way of communicating with drone operators and can barley see the tiny drones flying in the smoke which makes an aircraft collision a distinct possibility, as reported on the Cameron Peak Fire Facebook page.

I don't know about you but I've never been more ready for Colorado snowfall.

Side note: On Friday morning at 6 a.m., the Information System showed that the fire was at 169,000 acres but when I refreshed the page at 8:30 a.m. it said 167,153 acres, so I apologize if you heard me say 169,000 acres on the radio Friday morning. The Cameron Peak Fire Facebook page has confirmed that the fire is at 167,153 acres.
