With drought conditions, the Cameron Peak Fire, and the Horsetooth Outlet Project, the city is expected to have a shortage of water. The City of Fort Collins is saying there would be a daily water shortage of up to 38 percent if restrictions were not implemented.

Starting October 1, Fort Collins residents will not be able to do these actions under the water restrictions:

  • Lawn watering
  • Residential vehicle washing
  • Water features
  • Misting devices

Other restrictions include car dealership washing at the time of sale only, street sweeping reduced to once a month, etc. A full list of changes can be found on the City of Fort Collins website HERE.

The water restrictions are expected to last until November 30 or until no longer needed. Fines for violations are as follows: Residential fines per violation could range from $50 to $1,000, while business fines per violation are $250 to $1,000.
