What Happened to Todd Harding – His Own Words [PICTURES]

Wednesday, January 25, 2017 I left home at around 3:30 a.m. The next thing I remember, I woke up in the back of an ambulance. The EMT asked me if I knew who I was. I told him yes. Then I asked what happened. He said I had been in an accident. I don't remember the accident happening. At some point I was asked if I knew my phone number. I said, "Yes, and you better call my wife, she will freak out."  She didn't freak out, but she met us in the emergency room at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland.

The rest of that morning is a blur. I remember getting lots of x-rays. I remember my boss, Pat, showing up in the ER. I remember getting stitches in my left hand and I remember being my ear hurting really badly. I also remember being hungry and being told I couldn't eat because they may have to do surgery on my ear. I was taken to the ICU at MCR, where they took excellent care of me. I could not have asked for better care. Thanks to to everyone at the hospital, who treated me like I was the most important person in the World.

Todd's Injuries

• Stitches in left hand
• Sprained left thumb
• Broken bone in the neck. He has wear a brace for two months.
• Todd ripped off most of his right ear. It was sewn back on in his hospital bed.
• Deep cuts in the top of his head
• Two black eyes, although Todd wasn't hit directly in the eyes.
• He has deep bruises on both sides of his face and the top of his chest.

The truck rolled north of the Windsor exit on I-25, although I don't remember my accident at all. I lost my glasses and sunglasses in the crash. My down-filled leather duster was cut off me and I was drinking a protein shake on my way to work, so the interior of the truck is covered with blood, feathers, and chocolate shake.

I am lucky to be alive. I know that. I am also lucky to be returning to work, just two weeks after the accident. I have a broken bone in my neck, but it could have been much worse. I was told by the State Patrol officer, who visited me in the hospital that he thought when he saw my truck that he was responding to a fatality.  I am very fortunate.
