The NoCo Virus Tracker articles are made possible by our partner, the Keep NoCo Open campaign, that reminds citizens to wear a mask, wash your hands, physically distance and support local as Northern Colorado recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.

It won't look like 2019, but it probably (hopefully) won't look like 2020, either. But, with a 2021 lineup on its website, here is what Red Rocks is anticipating for the coming season (as best as anyone really can).

According to a statement from the venue that was shared on Facebook, Red Rocks is planning for a 'variety of scenarios,' including the likeliness of limited-capacity events. It really all depends on local COVID-19 cases, and how many Coloradans are vaccinated by the time outdoor concert season arrives.

For reference of our progress: As of February 16, two months after the vaccination's arrival, over 300,000 Coloradans have received both doses, while nearly 700,000 have gotten at least one dose. Colorado's seven-day positivity rate is 3.7 percent, and 73 percent of ICU beds and 30 percent of ventilators are in use.

'While it’s too early to forecast attendance numbers, we understand that reduced capacity early in the season may mean some artists reschedule or cancel shows, so we anticipate some movement in the calendar ahead. This will be a rolling process with many factors based on our community’s progress in driving down COVID numbers,' Red Rocks said.

Being outdoors is an advantage that Red Rocks has over other venues, but limiting attendance at a venue that can normally host over 9,500 could still affect the possibility of nationally-touring acts rolling through.

Last year, Red Rocks was one of the few venues to actually be able to host live shows with big names like Sam Hunt, Megan Thee Stallion and Nathaniel Rateliff; some with no in-person audience, and some limited to just 175 people, selected by lottery.

'Our team is collaborating with City and State officials to track COVID figures and plan for and implement the protocols required for fans to gather safely,' Red Rocks' post reads, which you can see in full, below.
