You might want to watch this one with the lights on.

This is the time of year in which people love to be scared. It's the spooky season. And while I'm not particularly fond of horror films, I have several friends who love to settle in with a big bowl of popcorn and get their adrenaline pumping.

Needless to say, I don't get invited to those get-togethers.

Some movies are gory, while some are suspenseful. And each fan has a favorite. Insider compiled a list of the Most Popular Horror Movie in Every State to tell us which ones are most likely being watched this year.

Colorado's favorite scary movie is The Shining. It's a classic horror film that was released in 1980. IMDB's synopsis says this...

A family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where a sinister presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from both past and future.
